| New in 2012 |
|
The Office of Alumni and Parent Relations is excited to announce some changes in 2012. To start off with, we have two new employees working in our office. Michelle Shellenberger joined us back in November and has hit the ground running as our Administrative Assistant. Brittany (Kappauf) Claridge ’10 started at the end of December as our Assistant Director and is doing a great job. I am really excited to work with both of them as we continue to strive to better serve our alumni.
You may have also noticed the new format for the Alumni Newsletter. Special thanks to Ben Bonds ’09 and Ramona Fritschi from our Marketing and Publications Department for redesigning the newsletter.

| MBA Breakfast on 2/23: Tablets in the Workplace |
|
When Apple released the iPad in April 2010, critics questioned the value of this category of device and its' market viability. Who needs an oversized iPhone or a laptop that doesn't have Microsoft Word? Apparently over 50 million people do. The tablet has captured the imagination of young and old and continues to pick up momentum as it crosses into mainstream culture. Yet many of us in the business world struggle with how to apply it to our professional lives. Bryan Owen will facilitate a discussion on the role of the tablet in the workplace, from a personal productivity tool to a powerful sales and research platform. Please join us on February 23rd in Lancaster for this MBA Networking Breakfast. Click here for more details.

| News from the Politics Department |
|
The Department of Politics has a new blog and are looking for guest writers! This blog will be a resource for alumni, current students, and prospective students to learn more about Messiah College and the politics major. Since it is the blog’s first year, the department are trying to have as many posts as we can from students, faculty, and alumni.
So, if you are interested in writing please email the department! They want to offer an alumni perspective on topics that relate to the politics major. Whether that be career and calling or about current political event, the readers would love to hear from you! Blog posts can be short. If you have a personal blog , the department can link to instead, that would work as well.
Email the department at politics@messiah.edu for more information and one of our work study students will contact you!
Also,
The Department of Politics requests assistance from its major alums. As part of the assessment process, it would be very helpful to have your feedback on your experiences in the major, now that you have been out in the workforce/graduate school. Your insights will also be valuable in assisting to shape the future of the department and its related majors. Please be alert for an email communication with the link, to be distributed in February.
