Alumni Appreciation Award
![]() Recognizes significant service to Messiah College 2005 Recipients Paul and Laura Nisly Paul Nisly, professor of English, and his late wife Laura have been members of the Messiah College family for more than 30 years. Paul, who will retire after the fall 2005 semester, is known for his gentle demeanor but deep and powerful voice and has had a profound impact on his students. Peter Powers, chair of the Department of English, calls Paul a teaching pastor, very much shepherding his students even as he is highly demanding of them. Laura worked in Lottie Nelson Dining Hall for 15 years, served graduating English majors at a formal dinner held in the Nisly home, and baked countless apple pies for English honor society meetings and other special occasions. Together, they have given generously to scholarships and other programs that enrich students’ lives. |
