Alumni Appreciation AwardRecognizes significant service to Messiah College 2002 Recipient Dr. Ronald L. Miller '61 A native of central Pennsylvania, Ronald Miller has faithfully served Messiah College and area communities with his commitment to music. Currently in his 35th year of teaching in the Messiah College Department of Music, Miller will retire at the end of the 2002-2003 academic year. Throughout his Messiah College career that began in 1968, Miller served the College in many ways. He chaired his department for several years and conducted a variety of musical groups, including the Messiah College Choral Society, the Messiah College Singers, and the Messiah College Recorder Consort. He was interim director of the Grantham Brethren in Christ Church and the Carlisle Brethren in Christ Church. Having received his Ph.D. in musicology from Indiana University in 1974, Miller has also published several articles and co-authored an electronic instructional program entitled Music History Review: Composers. He married to Joyce, whom he met at Messiah College, and has three children: Jeffrey '93, Kathryn, and Suzanne '99. Miller is generous with both his time and his resources. Recently, he donated personal resources for an endowed student scholarship. Undoubtedly, Miller is committed to the Messiah College community. |
