You can read about these alumni, their country's highlights, travel recommendations, and prayer requests by visiting www.messiah.edu/alumni . If you live abroad and wish to participate, please go to the website and complete the convenient online form.

* CARISSA HASTON '00: A REMARKABLE YOUNG WOMAN
What would you do if your stomach lost the ability to digest food leading to serious health problems and ruining your career plans? Perhaps, you would create a web-site designed to offer support and build awareness about your illness that eventually connects more than 1,000 persons nationwide with the same disease? Or perhaps, you would start a non-profit organization, which attracts the attention and support of health care professionals and pharmaceutical firms?

That's exactly what Carissa Haston, now living in Lewisberry, Pa. has done in only two years since graduating from Messiah with an art degree. In recognition of her accomplishments, she is being honored with the 2002 Young Alumni Achievement Award. Carissa's courageous story will be told and her spirited achievements honored in chapel on October 15 at 9:30 a.m. Alumni are invited to attend.

If interested in learning more, please visit Carissa's personal web site at www.monkeygirl.atfreeweb.com or visit the web site of G-PACT, the organization she helped found, at www.g-pact.org .

The College is currently offering reduced overnight rates (ranging from $40 - $55/night) to help offset inconveniences for guests during construction of the new academic building nearby. The Climenhaga Homestead offers quality bed & breakfast-style accommodations perfect for a weekend getaway or a private retreat. For more information or to make a reservation, contact climenhagahomestead@messiah.edu or call (717) 796-5064. She will match new or increased gifts totaling up to $250,000 from alumni. Student Impact Fund gifts go directly to support student financial assistance and educational programs or you can designate your gift as you wish. More information is forthcoming in the mail or through the annual phonathon.

* WHAT HAPPENED TO ALUMNI DONOR LISTS?
A totally redesigned "President's Report" will be mailed this week. The new "President's Report" seeks to do a better, more focused job of portraying the year's highlights and Messiah's mission. As a result, it omits pages and pages of numerous and lengthy donor lists. The alumni donor lists will appear in the December issue of the "Alumni Report" newsletter.

* 2002 ALUMNI DIRECTORY IS AVAILABLE AND ON SALE NOW
