Psalm 96:3 ********************************************************** * MESSIAH COLLEGE MEN GO ON SPECIAL DATES FOR VALENTINES DAY Sixteen Messiah College men escorted 16 female residents of Messiah Village to an evening of dinner and discussion at a local eatery. Student organizers hope to expand it for next year. This heart-warming story received front page coverage in the February 15 issue of The Patriot News. * GENERAL EDUCATION LAUNCHES NEW CORE COURSE Nearly 150 students are participating in a pilot course entitled "Created and Called for Community." Designed for first year students, this course helps them consider questions related to their vocation as faithful stewards in God's creation. It also introduces students to Messiah's unique heritage, mission and identity. * BASKETBALL FEVER ON THE RISE! Both Messiah women's and men's basketball teams enter conference championship play this week. The women take on Lebanon Valley College at home on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m. The men, registering their first 20 win season since 1980, travel to Lebanon Valley College to take on the Dutchmen at 7:00 p.m. Winners of both contests will play for the conference championship on Saturday, Feb. 26. The men's game will be broadcast live via www.wlvcradio.org . * PULITZER PRIZE WINNER TO SPEAK ON CAMPUS THIS WEEK David McCullough best known for his biographies "Truman" and "John Adams," will give the keynote address for the 2005 Spring Symposium on Humanities on Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. in Brubaker Auditorium. All alumni are welcome, though we especially look forward to honoring the anniversary reunion classes of 1975, 1970, 1965, 1960, and 1955. Meet and hear from our new president, Dr. Kim S. In addition to hosting the regional Special Olympics, many projects will be organized off campus. If you are willing to plan and lead a project to a local community agency you know, please contact the Agape Center via www.messiah.edu/agape/ServiceDay/index.shtml by March 25. * JUAN WILLIAMS NAMED 2005 COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER Williams is senior correspondent to National Public Radio and political analyst for Fox Television. He has written several highly regarded books regarding the role of Christians and the Church on issues related to social justice and race reconciliation. He has been invited to speak at Messiah's Commencement to share his perspectives as an African-American historian and author.
