I Timothy 6:11-12 ********************************************************** * CAMPUS COMMUNITY CELEBRATES NEW PRESIDENT Last week, faculty, staff and students officially (and delightfully) welcomed Dr. Kim Phipps to her new role as 8th President of Messiah College via a series of special receptions and chapel. Stay tuned! * BEAT THE WINTER WEARIES... by attending the annual Alumni Gym & Pool Night to be held on-campus Friday, January 28 from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. Admission is FREE but advance tickets are needed to insure access to the pool. See www.messiah.edu/alumni for more information and to register. * SPRING IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER... and so is Spring Reunion Day scheduled for April 16, 2005. This will be the first official alumni event for President Phipps as she hosts the "Brunch with the President" scheduled for 10 a.m. Anniversary reunions for the classes of 1975, 1970, 1965, 1960, and 1955 are planned. More details are forthcoming! * A NEW FACE IS COMING TO OUR OFFICE! The Office of Alumni & Parent Relations is pleased to announce the hiring of Renee (Butler '04) Thomas as staff assistant. Renee is no stranger to our office having served as our work/study student from 2001-2002. She has also worked as administrative assistant at the Philadelphia Campus and as an intern in the Office of Student Affairs. She comes to us from Commerce Bank where she was employed as a customer service representative. Renee and her husband, Lowell, reside in Mechanicsburg. * TOP-NOTCH ILLUSTRATOR TO PRESENT WORK Messiah has been fortunate to retain the services of visiting artist, John Ritter, for January term. Ritter helped develop Adobe Photoshop Software and counts Atlantic Monthly, Newsweek, and many large daily newspapers among his client list. He will be speaking about his recent work on January 24 at 4:15 p.m. in Frey Hall, Room 110. * THE BRITISH ARE.....HERE! WVMM 90.7FM Campus Radio has begun offering BBB World Service as part of it's daily broadcast from 7 - 11 a.m. BBB World Service offers a global perspective on the day's events. * WOMEN'S BASKETBALL IS #1! With its undefeated record (15-0 overall; 5-0 conference) the women's basketball team has just clambered to the top of the NCAA Division III National Rankings. Key games coming up include Moravian, also undefeated and tied for first place in the conference (1/22; home) and Widener (1/26; away). With a 13-3 record, the Messiah men's basketball team is off to it's best start since the 1978-79 squad (which went 14-1). Specializing in "roots" music - a combination of gospel, blues, country and bluegrass styles - Ollabelle has been featured on National Public Radio. They will appear in Brubaker Auditorium, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. Tickets are only $8 and can be purchased via (717) 691-6016.
