March 2011
Greetings from the Messiah College Alumni Council!
The Messiah College Alumni Council? If you are not familiar with the Alumni Council, rest assured, you’re not alone. Consisting of 37 alumni, ranging from the Class of 1945 to the Class of 2010, the Alumni Council meets throughout the year to discuss alumni feedback, develop new initiatives, and serve the College’s needs. Until recently, the Alumni Council has been working hard behind the scenes to benefit the interests of our alumni. Now, with a renewed focus, the Alumni Council is stepping forward and reaching out to our alumni community in a more visible way.
Our focus this year is to re-engage our alumni. After graduation, when our world no longer is centered in Grantham, Pa., it’s easy to become disconnected from the campus that was our home for four years. If we’re not careful, we lose contact with the community we created during our time on campus.
The strength of Messiah College is not only our current students, but also our alumni. In our careers, we’ve achieved wisdom that we cannot learn in classrooms; in our lives, we’ve developed integrity that we only discover in time; and in our faith, we’ve found a calling that we will continue to follow.
Over the next year, the Alumni Council will be working with the administration, professors, current students, and (most importantly) you, to bring the strength of our alumni back to the Messiah College community. We’re encouraging our alumni to come back on campus to volunteer for service projects, to participate in our alumni events, and even to teach our current students in the classrooms. We’re also bringing the Messiah community to you, with opportunities to attend regional events and the first ever FalconNation tour.
Your participation is vital to these initiatives! As Chair of the Alumni Council, I encourage all of you to reach out to the Council Members with any suggestions or feedback. We want to hear about your experiences as an alum! As the Alumni Council, we’re here to serve you and make you, as a Messiah College Alum, feel represented and valued on campus and in our community.

I’m looking forward to an exciting year with the
alumni community!
