Lanipua (Yeh-Hauer) Lani Employer: San Diego Children's Hospital Graduated: May, 2000 ![]() Upon graduating from Messiah College, I decided to take an extended detour to Barcelona, Spain. I was fortunate to find a sympathetic Dean in the School of Nursing at the University of Barcelona, and together we created a post-baccalaureate program that integrated me into their classes and clinical settings. In addition to studying nursing, I taught English to students of all ages and abilities - an interesting and challenging experience, to say the least. A year and some later, I decided to return to the U.S. to pursue nursing stateside. I began by working at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. , in the general Pediatric/ Hematology-Oncology unit. I had an amazing time there, as I learned a great deal, and after a few years decided to begin travel nursing. I started out on the west coast, came back to the east coast, and then bounced back west again. My last assignment was in Orange County, CA , and from there I traveled south to San Diego , where I am currently located. In the last month, I finally settled down for the foreseeable future, as I have started a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program at the University of San Diego . As I work toward my Master's, I am also working part-time on the Hematology/Oncology unit of the Children's Hospital here. I still love bedside nursing, and I know that furthering my education will only enable me to improve the care that I provide to my patients and their families. |
