School of Health & Natural Sciences Alumni Profiles
Employer: Trinity Western University and University College of the Fraser Valley
Graduated: May, 1999
After graduating from Messiah, I accepted a job at Briercrest College in Saskatchewan as the Rehabilitation & Conditioning Coordinator in the Athletics Department, which I held for two years. While there, I had many opportunities to begin developing a teaching career.
After Briercrest, I pursued a Master of Science degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Sport & Exercise Science with a major in Exercise Physiology and a research emphasis in cancer and neurophysiology, which I completed in May 2003. During the summer of 2003, I secured a position at a private cancer rehabilitation clinic in Denver , Colo. as a researcher and exercise physiologist, but after only eight months I decided to move back to Canada to pursue a teaching career in higher education as well as further my graduate studies.
Currently, I am living in the Fraser Valley near Vancouver, British Columbia . I stay busy by teaching Anatomy, Physiology, Exercise Physiology, and Bioenergetics as an adjunct instructor at two universities in the Lower Mainland – Trinity Western University and University College of the Fraser Valley.
Continuing graduate studies, I am currently a candidate for a second Masters degree from Trinity Western Seminary with a research emphasis in Christian ethics (Bioethics). I am also actively pursuing Ph.D. opportunities at the University of British Columbia with an interdisciplinary research focus in Rehabilitation Science. If all goes well, I expect to begin Ph.D. studies next fall.
I want to thank the faculty and staff of the Health & Human Performance Department for the care, compassion, and encouragement they provided during my four years at Messiah. I also want to thank those of you who continue to encourage me as I pursue a career in higher education. I look forward to sharing my future adventures with you all.
