CRITICAL NOTES TO SENIORS:

You must APPLY FOR YOUR DEGREE if you are planning to graduate this academic year by completing the “Apply for Your Degree” form in MCSquare no later than Friday, October 7, 2011. You may access the application on the Academic Life tab, Registrar Channel, Student Records Menu.

It is absolutely critical for the Registrar’s Office to receive your application since it is the only means to set in motion your graduation process. I don’t know you’re planning to graduate until you tell me by submitting your application.  If you do not plan to graduate in the current academic year, please notify me by email at pmaynard@messiah.edu.

Graduation Requirements and Dates

Before submitting your application, review your degree audit in MCSquare to determine when you will actually be finished with all requirements for your degree.  Graduation requirements can be found in the college catalog (www.messiah.edu/academics/catalog) on page 55.

December graduates must have all requirements completed by the end of this semester to have a graduation date of December 31, 2011.

May graduates must have all requirements completed by the end of the Spring ’11 term to have a graduation date of May 12, 2012.  Seniors who plan to attend a May-term cross-cultural should apply as a May 2012 grad; I’ll be in correspondence with these students in the Spring.

August graduates must have all requirements completed by August 31, 2012.  If you are within six (6) credits of completing your degree at the end of the Spring ’12 semester AND the outstanding can be completed by August 31, you are eligible to be an August graduate.

All December ’11, May ’12 and August ’12 graduates are eligible to participate in the May Commencement Ceremony.  No distinctions are made at the ceremony of the various graduation dates.
