The Messiah College Blue Pig is the mascot of the Student Philanthropy Council. The blue Piggy Bank is meant to be a visual reminder to all students of the personal and financial sacrifices that Messiah College faculty and staff, alumni, parents, and friends have made since 1909 to ensure the success of the College.

During the fall, blue piggy banks are delivered to the dorm room of all incoming students. Throughout the year, students across campus are invited to attend Student Philanthropy Council events that seek to promote a culture of gratitude, and of course the Blue Pig is always in attendance!

During the spring semester, Piggy Bank Round-ups will be held and students will have the opportunity to donate their loose change to a textbook scholarship fund. This scholarship will be awarded to an incoming student next fall and awarded on a need basis. Last year, over $200 was raised for the Class of 2014 Textbook Scholarship.
