Dear Fellow Seniors,
Happy March! On behalf of the Senior Class Gift Committee, I would like to ask each one of you to consider giving to The Class of 2009 Gift.
If you are at all like me, your years at Messiah College have been some of the most influential of your life. Messiah College has provided me with countless memories, spiritual and intellectual growth, deep friendships, and a new perspective on what it means to live a life with the goal of serving God.
One of the most beautiful gifts I have received from Messiah College are my memories down by the Yellow Breeches. It is by these waters that I have grown and changed. The bubbling waters of the Yellow Breeches have been a constant presence despite changes in seasons, friends, classes, interests, good times and bad. I’m sure that many of you have similar memories.
Fortunately, you and I do not need to drink our water, wash our dishes, or do laundry in the Yellow Breeches. We are able to use clean water from our buildings to accomplish these tasks. (With the sewage plant parked right along the banks, we should be thankful for this fact :O) ) Sadly, the reality is that many others across the globe, including those from Rodeo, Bolivia, do not have clean water, as we do, to drink, wash dishes, or do laundry. It is for this very reason that Messiah College is partnering with Food for the Hungry to improve the drinking water system in Rodeo. This will be the start of a continuing relationship between Messiah and Rodeo, one which will encourage our students to get further involved with studying abroad, service trips, and other community ventures in Rodeo.
In light of the gifts which Messiah College has given each one of us, I want to make a charge to each one of you to give back. Give openly and kindly and, most importantly, give with love. In the words of Henry Drummond, "I wonder why it is that we are not all kinder than we are? How much the world needs it. How easily it is done. How instantaneously it acts. How infallibly it is remembered. How superabundantly it pays itself back--for there is no debtor in the world so honourable, so superbly honourable, as Love."
Please click here to support the 2009 senior gift. We have raised $580 so far, and hope to raise an additional $1500 with your generosity.
God bless and thank you so much for your consideration!
In Him,
Jessie Hall
P.S. - If every senior gives just $3, we will reach our goal of $2,009!
P.P.S. - If you choose to give $20.09 or more, you'll receive a special senior class t-shirt! |
