Menu & Suggestions

The Lottie Nelson menus at Messiah College are prepared in the Dining Services Office by our Executive Chef and culinary staff. Your suggestions are welcome at all times. Some of the finest refinements have come from students' suggestions. Suggestions from the suggestion box will receive a written response posted on the suggestion bulletin board. Keep an eye on the suggestion board which is located in the dining room near the tray return area.

Dining Room Policies

ID cards must be handed to the cashier and swiped upon every entrance to the dining room at which time you must indicate your meal plan type. Please do not ask a cashier to admit you without your ID card. You must have valid meal plan or purchase access for entrance to Lottie Nelson. (If you lose your card after the ID office closes a temporary replacement card can be obtained at the Campus Information Center/Dispatch)

Shoes and shirts must be worn in the food court and dining room.

No food may be taken from the dining room. Our no-limits policy provides you with plenty to eat while you are in the dining room. This policy does not entitle you to take food from the dining room. This includes fresh fruits, desserts, ice cream, etc., that are not being eaten as you leave. Violation of this policy could result in a $100 fine.

The dining room entrance will be open daily from 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. The full fare venues (meaning hot food stations) will close promptly at the times listed on the above noted meal times. If necessary, an extra portion of food will be served to guests the first time through the full fare venue line when time does not permit them to come back for additional servings.

If you have a 10 meal plan you may enter the dining room only once during any given meal period (If you are going to leave briefly, ** you must turn your ID card over to the cashier and upon your return, he/she will give your ID card back). If you have a Without Limits Ultra Plan or Without Limits Advantage plan you may enter as much as you like. To determine specific meal periods, please return to the hanbook meal times.

Inappropriate behavior in campus dining facilities, including food throwing, unauthorized entry, etc., will not be tolerated. Students engaging in such activity will be referred to the Residence Education Office for disciplinary action, which may include a fine and community service. These actions are seen as a violation of the Messiah student conduct code and become a part of the student's academic record.

** More than ten to fifteen minutes will be considered excessive and the customer may be asked to pay full price for the meal to re-enter the dining room. This should allow adequate time for a student to go to his/her residence hall room and return.
