Gardasil Vaccine

Gardasil is a new vaccine that recently became available for the prevention of certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV) to help guard against cervical cancer and some strains of genital warts. Approximately 70 percent of all cases of cervical cancer are caused by two strains of HPV and could be prevented by this vaccine. This is the first vaccine ever developed specifically to prevent cancer.  The vaccine targets females 9 to 26 years of age and is administered in three doses over a six month period.

The administration of this vaccine is available through the GYN services provided by the Engle Center. Schedule a visit with one of the providers for a more in-depth conversation about your specific needs. Be aware that the vaccine is costly and not all insurance companies will cover the expense. Before requesting that the vaccine be ordered for you, please check with your insurance company for information about your personal coverage.
