About The Financial Aid Program
One of the obvious questions that students ask as they consider college education is “Can I afford it?” Like any wise investment, an education at a private Christian college brings definite rewards. But it also costs money. Since we feel that students should receive a quality education that is distinctively Christian, we are prepared to help deserving persons with financial need to meet the cost of a Messiah College education. Most financial aid programs require students to demonstrate financial need. At Messiah College the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to determine a student’s financial need. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a confidential statement of income and assets from both the student and parents. The information is analyzed to compare the financial strength of the applicant to that of other students in such areas as income, assets, size of family, number of family members in post-secondary education, and age of the parents. The goal is to make the expectations for the family contribution as equitable as possible for each student applicant.
Many forms of aid are based on financial need. Students who do not demonstrate financial need are only eligible for no-need aid. Messiah College offers several forms of financial aid that falls into the “no-need” category—academic scholarships. |
