SCHOOL OF HEALTH AND NATURAL SCIENCES

NUTRITION AND DIETETICS; HEALTH AND HUMAN PERFORMANCE; AND OAKES MUSEUM]

Messiah College is a nationally recognized Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, located in south-central Pennsylvania. Candidates must be strongly committed to the educational mission of the College to educate students toward maturity of intellect, character, and Christian faith in preparation for lives of service, leadership, and reconciliation.

The Dean will provide leadership to five academic departments along with the Oakes Museum of Natural History. The School has 43 full-time faculty, 31 adjunct faculty, and approximately 650 students within 14 undergraduate major programs. The School also participates significantly in the College’s General Education program. Successful applicants will be expected to:

  • Share the unique Christian mission and embracing identity of the College
  • Exhibit a creative and innovative vision towards education.
  • Possess an earned doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited university and be qualified for a senior rank in an academic discipline represented by the School.
  • Evidence teaching and administrative experience related to one or more academic disciplines represented by the School
  • Exhibit a collaborative leadership style and excellent communication skills.

Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits include TIAA-CREF, life, health, and dental insurance, and college tuition assistance for dependents.

Nominations and applications should be submitted as soon as possible. Review of candidates will begin October 30, 2007, however applications will be received until the position is filled. Starting date for this position is July 1, 2008.
