Criminal Justice Department of Sociology, Social Work and Criminal Justice School of Education and Social Sciences (Posting Date: 08/24/09) The Department of Sociology, Social Work and Criminal Justice invites applications for a term tenure position in Criminal Justice.
Responsibilities: Teach courses in the Criminal Justice major; advise Criminal Justice majors; serve as coordinator for the Criminal Justice Program. The Department seeks candidates who are generalists and who have expertise in several of the following areas: Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminology, Victimology, Restorative Justice, Comparative Criminal Justice and Criminal Justice field supervision. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Sociology or a related field; education and experience in one or more aspects of criminal justice is expected. Candidates with doctoral study in progress will be considered. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a desire to teach in a Christian college. The Department: The Department of Sociology, Social Work and Criminal Justice offers majors in Sociology/Anthropology, Social Work and Criminal Justice. The Department encourages students to be actively involved in the community and to take advantage of the many off-campus study and service opportunities. The Criminal Justice Program: The Criminal Justice program prepares students for employment and/or graduate study in a wide range of criminal justice and related fields. Students are exposed to the interdisciplinary nature of the field and develop a comprehensive understanding of crime, the criminal justice system, and values and ethics particular to the field of criminal justice. The program integrates a strong liberal arts foundation with a Christian world view, with a distinct focus on a Restorative Justice perspective. The courses are taught within a conceptual and experiential framework, combining theoretical understanding with practical experience.
