Messiah College Online Policy and Procedure Manual
Your relationship with Messiah - and ours with you - is a very important matter.
As in any relationship, there are obligations and commitments on both sides. You expect certain things from the College, and, in turn, the College expects certain things from you. We seek to make Messiah College a good place to work, with competitive salaries, a strong benefit package, and congenial working conditions. From our employees, we look for a willing attitude, a friendly and cooperative spirit, and an honest effort to do the very best job possible.
The Policy and Procedure Manual provides information that is necessary to all employees of the College - teaching faculty, administrative employees, and staff employees. Therefore, it is important that you become familiar with the contents of the manual. Every attempt has been made to present information in an easy-to- read, concise fashion. However, if you have suggestions as to how to make this manual better, please direct to them to the Department of Human Resources.
As changes are made in policies, the appropriate pages in the manual will be brought up to date. Administrative and staff employees who have questions about the manual should contact their immediate supervisor; teaching faculty should contact their Department Chair or Dean. The Policy and Procedure Manual is maintained by the Department of Human Resources.
In addition to materials contained in this manual, employees receive a copy of About Messiah. This booklet presents several important statements, including the identity and mission, foundational values, statements of faith and community covenant. The College Charter, Bylaws, and the Covenant between Messiah College and the Brethren in Christ Church also include information which may be of interest to College employees; copies of these documents are available in the Office of the President.
This Policy and Procedure Manual is for all Messiah College employees and supersedes all previous editions. It is furnished for purposes of information only and its contents are not to be interpreted as a contract between the College and its employees. The College is committed to fair and equitable treatment of its employees in accordance with established policies. Therefore, the practice of the College shall be to consult with employees who would be affected by substantive changes in these policies. It reserves the right to alter these policies at any time where changes in law or other circumstances render such attention in policy necessary.
