Movie & Discussion Alternate Chapel

“The Witness: From the Balcony of Room 306”

Time: 6-7:30PM

Location:  Parmer Cinema, Boyer Hall

Description: On April 4, 1968, the Revered Samuel “Billy” Kyles stood beside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee and bore witness to his brutal assassina­tion. Through Rev. Kyle’s recollections of those fateful moments and the days leading up to them, “The Witness: From the Balcony of Room 306” helps us remember why Dr. King made that fateful trip to Memphis, and takes us inside the last hours of his life. witnessroom306.com

“Speaking Truth to Power: Courage and Conviction for Challenging Times

Time: 10:30-11:30am

Location: Brubaker Auditorium

Description: Join us as our speaker will share his last moments with Dr. Martin Luther King; and a lifetime of work and courage in an ever-changing challenging time. Rev. Samuel “Billy” Kyles has been a pastor of Monumental Baptist Church in South Memphis since 1959. A national leader of the civil rights movement, Kyles was a friend and colleague of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and an eyewitness to King’s assassination.

Worship led by Messiah College’s Gospel Choir.
