Messiah College Remote Computing Services Policy

Services provided by Messiah College over a modem

The college maintains a small number of modems for employees and students to access several services provided by the college. The following services are available:
  • access to e-mail
  • access to the college's web site (but not to sites off campus)
  • access to miscellaneous administrative functions
Because of the cost of technical support required, the college does not provide access to the internet via the modem pool. Families and individuals should obtain internet access for their home use by using any one of the many local internet service providers (ISPs). A few of these are free. In certain cases, employees will be permitted to use the college modems for internet access, but only when such access is necessary for their job responsibilities with the college.
