Very Important!! - - UNINSTALL any other version of anti-virus software on the PC
Save Welcome_Week_Config_PC.zip to your desktop
The program will start running. It will be a black box with white letters. Read the directions carefully and make the proper choices.
NOTES of Interest:
Spybot – In VISTA, if you are told to run as Administrator, right click on the exe file and then run as administrator. Spybot will need to be run from the icons on the desktop and definitions updated. Don’t forget to immunize Spybot.
When asked if the PC needs ccleaner – if it is a new PC, choose no. If the PC has been used for a while and is running slow, choose yes and then look up how to use the software once it is installed.
Wireless Setup seems to work fine for XP. If you do have problems with XP, directions for manual setup can be found at this link: http://www.messiah.edu/offices/its/network/wireless/wirelesshowto.html (XP)
VISTA sometimes has to be setup manually, here is a link to our manual setup directions, if you have trouble setting this up for Vista, please call us at 717-796-5039.
This is actually an easy install process. When you are finished you should have the following setup:
Messiah Icons – one for password change, one for MCSquare and one for Student File Space
We recommend that you uninstall all firewalls except the Windows firewall. Messiah has a firewall for all incoming traffic so a personal firewall is unnecessary. Personal firewalls often interfere with the wireless network and parts of MCSquare.
