Hola, my name is Hierald Kane-Osorto and I currently serve as the Associate Director of Multicultural Programs at Messiah College. I provide leadership to the development and implementation of programming directed towards enhancing the quality of student life as it relates to racial/ethnic diversity and multicultural concerns.

In simple terms, one of the many things I do is work with first year students through the NET, a network for students designed to assist them in their transition to college life. Through this program we talk about resources available, study skills, financial aid, and of course have lots of fun visiting a number of places off campus.

I also collaborate across campus to implement events for our different racial and ethnic heritage months. We always welcome new ideas, so if there is something that you would like to see happen on this campus feel free to contact me.

I love meeting new students and sitting down to have a cup of coffee or tea. So if you ever just want to take a break and talk about life, I would be more than happy to join you in good conversation.

I am always drawing from my own personal experiences as a first generation Latino growing up in Newark, New Jersey, with parents that were displaced due to the civil war in El Salvador. It is these experiences that continually inspire me to remain committed to addressing issues of racial reconciliation.

In my free time I love reading books on issues of social justice, post-colonialism, biographical sketches on amazing activists, and listening to spoken word. I also enjoy learning from others, traveling the world, and spending time with my partner Kristen and our puppy Ohana. I currently reside in Mechanicsburg, PA but frequently visit the land of my ancestors, El Salvador.
