Campus Mail delivery change

As previously announced in the President’s Campus Update from December 16, 2013, courier mail delivery to all campus offices other than those in Old Main will be discontinued following the end of the 2014 spring semester.* The last date for full courier mail delivery service will be June 27, 2014.

Beginning June 30, 2014, each campus office should pick up their mail at the Campus Post Office daily between the hours of 1 and 3:30 PM.  Large or unusually heavy packages which are not time sensitive will be delivered to campus by the College Press courier during his normal delivery schedule as time permits. A package dolly and mail tubs will also be available to borrow from the campus post office. These can be obtained on a first come first serve basis by inquiring at the customer service window.

In order to maintain security of the mail, the Campus Post Office is asking that there be a designated person or persons who will regularly pick up the mail for each department.  The presentation of a Messiah College photo ID card will be required for unknown or unfamiliar staff members.  Sending work study students to pick up mail without prior arrangements to do so is strongly discouraged for security reasons.

Mail delivery to Old Main will still occur between Noon and 1 pm Monday through Friday.

President's Campus Update excerpt from Dec 16, 2013:

Reduction in Mail Service:

"In order to realize the extent of permanent cost reductions needed, effective following the end of the spring 2014 semester, mail delivery to individual campus offices will be eliminated, with the exception of offices located in Old Main. (Old Main will retain delivery to accommodate the bulk of employment/personnel, financial, donor and admissions-related mail that is delivered to that building). All other offices on campus will pick up their mail daily at the campus post office, located in Eisenhower Campus Center."

When will the new schedule start?

The courier reduction changes begin on Monday, June 30, 2014


Who will still receive mail delivery?

Effective June 30, 2014, only Old Main and the Homestead (Development offices) will receive courier mail delivery.


How will my department get our mail?

If your office or department is not in Old Main, you are being asked to pick up your mail at the Campus Post Office in Eisenhower.


When can mail be picked up at the Campus Post Office?

Mail can be picked up Monday through Friday from 1:00 pm until 3:30 pm.


Can I send a work study to get my mail?

We would discourage departments from sending work study students to pick up mail unless it is absolutely necessary.


Do I have to get my mail every day?

If your department regularly gets more than 5 pieces of mail, we are asking you to pick it up every day, as space in the Campus Post Office is limited, especially for packages.


What if I have packages too heavy for me to carry?

If you have packages that are too large or heavy to carry, we will have a dolly that you may borrow on a first come, first serve basis.  If your large or heavy package is not urgent, we can also have the College Press courier deliver it to you the next business morning.


Do I need to show ID to get my mail?

Anyone picking up mail at the Campus Post Office should be prepared to present their ID.  This will help us maintain the security of the mail.  Even if you come every day, you may on occasion be helped by a post office work study who does not know you,  and they may ask you for your ID.


What time will the mail be delivered to Old Main?

We are not anticipating this to change.  It should still be between Noon and 1 pm.


Will the outgoing mail time change?

The outgoing mail time will not change. US Mail leaves campus the next business morning between 8:30 – 9:30 am when the USPS truck arrives on campus.
