A president with a mission
Interview by Rebecca Jekel
Two years into her tenure, President Kim Phipps discusses with The Bridge her passion for educating college students, the opportunities and challenges facing the College, and why she anticipates Messiah College’s future with confidence and optimism.
The daily calendar of Messiah College President Kim Phipps reveals the typically demanding nature of a college presidency. Her schedule also reflects her character as a president who makes time to talk face-to-face with the people who comprise the community she leads. Prioritizing events such as Open Door Days, Pizza with the Prez, and Meet the President, Phipps regularly meets with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and benefactors to discuss the issues they care about and to listen to them describe their hopes for the College.
Now two years into her presidency, Phipps shares with The Bridge what she has learned from these conversations and explains how her ongoing dialogue with members of the College community helps to strengthen Messiah’s mission and future.
