Messiah alumnus honored by Wrestling Hall of Fame
Mike Helm ’00, an NCAA Division III national champion and three-time All-American wrestler for Messiah College, was inducted into the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Wrestling Hall of Fame in March. Helm’s exemplary 112–26 record
as a Falcon wrestler ranks third in career wins at the College. While at Messiah under the tutelage of Coach Neil Turner, Helm’s achievements included capturing
the national title, being a three-time MAC place winner,
an MAC champion in 2000, and an Eastern Regional Champion in 1998. “I was blessed to be his coach,” says Turner. “He set a standard for Messiah wrestlers that I hope will be an inspiration to every wrestler of the present and the future.” Helm is currently teaching and coaching in New York and will move to North Carolina after the school year. He also is on the staff of Turner Wrestling Training during Messiah’s one-week wrestling camp.
