Messiah’s new Falcon mascot now has a name thanks to Dwayne Magee, manager of College Press (shown here with Fandango).
That’s just Fandango!
In January, a new—but sadly nameless—Messiah Falcon mascot made its public debut. After fans had the chance to see the new mascot in action at a few events, the athletic department decided to sponsor a campuswide contest to find an appropriate moniker. Enter, Fandango. A panel consisting of student-athletes and athletics staff members picked this name as their favorite from among more than 200 entries. Dwayne Magee, manager of Messiah’s College Press, submitted the winning entry, for which he received a $50 gift certificate to the College Bookstore. According to Messiah’s athletic director, Jerry Chaplin, Fandango is friendly, entertaining, and appeals to all ages. “Fandango will add to the already fun atmosphere and enthusiasm at games,” Chaplin says.
