"Messiah College: how may I help you?"
After 23 years as “the voice of Messiah,” college receptionist Nancy Busch retired at the end of June. Nancy, who helped to maintain over 2,000 campus extensions and managed the phonemail system, will be remembered fondly by students, faculty, staff, and College neighbors.
As a celebratory send-off for this beloved member of the Messiah community, more than 70 of Nancy’s fellow employees, former work-study students, and friends attended a surprise dinner in her honor. More formally , Nancy was honored at the Employee Service Awards banquet, a yearly event during which the milestone anniversaries of faculty and staff are recognized.
In addition to Nancy, two other college staff members—Brenda Richards and Shirley Trussell of College Press—will retire this fall. Faculty retirements include John Markovich, senior lecturer in Spanish; Joan Maybee, adjunct instructor in biology; Barbara Burwell, associate professor of health and human performance; Vernon Martin, associate professor of accounting; Richard Stevick, professor of psychology; and Mike Brown, reference librarian.
