Nancy Busch

Everyone at Messiah College should know the name Nancy Busch. She’s touched the lives of students, staff, faculty, and members of the neighboring community for the past 23 years.

According to Linn Worrall, manager of gift processing and donor recognition, "[Nancy] is the kind of person who makes people know they are important to her." She’s so much more than the college receptionist—she’s the flag bearer of the hospitality for which Messiah College is known.

In addition to helping to maintain more than 2,000 telephone extensions across campus and scheduling the college fleet, Nancy is responsible for the phonemail system, sending out messages to students, staff, and faculty on a regular basis. She is truly the “voice” of Messiah College.

Shirley Trussell

College Press

Shirley Trussell is retiring this year just short of 24 years of service with Messiah College. For many years, she worked in the Admissions mailroom; most recently, she has served as the bulk mail supervisor at the College Press. Her belief in and dedication to “telling the story” of Messiah College has always been a high priority for Shirley.

Vernon Martin

Associate Professor of Accounting

Vernon Martin, associate professor of accounting, is retiring after a quarter century of service to Messiah College. A graduate of the College, Martin returned to the school after discovering a love for accounting. As the “tax man” in the Department of Management and Business, Martin worked tirelessly to establish the major’s rigorous curriculum.

Martin’s commitment to service can be seen in Messiah College’s VITA program, an IRS-sponsored effort to provide tax assistance to elderly and low-income individuals. Despite his retirement from teaching, Martin will maintain his involvement in the tax arena by continuing his private practice.
