Richard Stevick
Richard Stevick, professor of psychology, leaves Messiah after a quarter century of teaching. His warm smile and cheerful personality will be fondly remembered by both his students and his colleagues. Known for his avid interest in bird watching (and his regular offers to provide breakfast for friends willing to get up at 5 a.m. and join him in this hobby), Stevick brought a distinctive sense of friendship to both his job and his personal interactions.
During his career, he was often recognized as one of the best teachers on campus—as can be seen in the many friendships he cultivated with students as well as in his acceptance of the Outstanding Teacher award in 1999. Stevick’s dedicated years at Messiah stem from his passion and integrity, qualities he uses to encourage students and colleagues toward Christ’s kingdom.

Mike Brown
Mike Brown has graced Messiah for more than thirty years, and we use the word “graced” intentionally. His commitment to service and stewardship has, indeed, been grace-filled in every way. His long-time loyalty to Messiah College—and, in particular, the Murray Library, where he serves as a reference librarian and coordinator of collection development—proves his love for students and colleagues. His selfless dedication to his work has ensured that the doors of the library stay open, no matter the circumstance.
In addition to his responsibilities as a reference librarian and coordinator of collection development, Mike has served, since 1994, as co-liaison to the Friends of Murray Library. Currently, he serves on Friends Steering Committee and Board of Directors and is a major force in coordinating Friends’ annual book sales.
Mike is also an advocate and activist with Bread for the World, a nationwide citizens’ movement committed to ending hunger and reducing poverty worldwide, and he is a strong proponent of Christian Peacemaker Teams. |
