Seek magazine: an award-winning collaboration
One of the recent manifestations of the ongoing partnership between the Brethren in Christ Church and Messiah College is the creation and development of Seek magazine, a new publication for Brethren in Christ congregants. The magazine recently received the Evangelical Press Award of Excellence for Most Improved Publication and merit recognition among all denominational magazines.
The Church–College partnership is evident in every detail of the magazine: from the magazine’s overall vision, cast by denomination moderator Warren L. Hoffman ’68 (also a Messiah College trustee), to the magazine’s redesign, carried out by art director and designer David Kasparek (associate professor of graphic design at Messiah College), and launch editor Rebecca Ebersole Kasparek ’96 (also editor of The Bridge magazine). They worked in concert with a launch committee filled with alumni perspectives.
Seek continues to develop under the direction of editor Dulcimer Hope Brubaker ’04, art director Kasparek, and designer Katie Geshay ’05. Since the magazine’s inception, Messiah students have contributed to its success, serving as interns for the magazine and creating illustrations and photographs.
