Anuj Kalsy '04
“I was constantly amazed that professors treated me less as a student of science and more as a budding scientist.”

Developing confidence, commitment, and compassion

By learning alongside those more experienced in their disciplines, “students get to look inside the heads of their mentors and see the process,” says Moshier.

Biology alumnus Anuj Kalsy ’04, a senior research technologist in medicine and infectious disease at Harvard Medical School, says of his experience at Messiah, “I was constantly amazed that professors treated me less as a student of science and more as a budding scientist.” Graduate research student John Cuddy ’04, who studied sports and exercise science at Messiah, says, “When you work with people who love what they do and strive to be the best they can be, you can’t help but let it rub off on you.”

Students not only pick up essential knowledge and skills, but also learn from their mentors’ Christ-like examples. During clinical rotations, students are shown by faculty how to give high-level professional care with compassion, often in the face of human suffering.
