3. Weekend class opens art world to Harrisburg students

Associate professor of art Gene VanDyke brings free Saturday morning art classes to Harrisburg for “a group of children who may not otherwise have these opportunities,” he says.  Joining VanDyke each year as student teachers, Messiah art education majors in the advanced method and curriculum course teach the children art skills and creative outlets for self-expression.

Hamlin’s current work for USAID (United States Agency for International Development) focuses on Latin America and the Caribbean, where she says social and economic development programs, in turn, help prevent further conflict.
