Advent Reflections: Treasures of the Heart

Members of the Messiah College community meditate on the meaning of the Incarnation

When I was a young, school-age child, I owned a small cedar treasure chest. Every summer, our family would travel to various historic sites, and I would frequently return home with a special memento to carefully preserve in the chest. On occasion, I would sit on my bed and lovingly examine my treasures, always remembering the wonderful stories and events associated with them.

Collectively entitled Treasures of the Heart, these excerpts are filled with engaging stories, memories, and thoughtful reflections intended to enrich your Advent season. Messiah College students, staff, and faculty invite you to share the Advent journey as you ponder the heartfelt treasures embodied in these pages. May you be encouraged and challenged as you read these reflections — some are personal narratives, others focus specifically on the nativity story — all are inspired treasure from which we can gain strength for our common journey toward the celebration of the Incarnation — the miracles of Emmanuel — God with us!
