| Acclamation dancers practiced for long hours to perfect every graceful move in their stunningly choreographed spring concert, held in April. |
A decade ago, seven Messiah College students started Acclamation, a dance ministry that holds weekly ballet, jazz, modern, tap, Pointe, and African dance classes. The student-led organization has grown to well over 100 dancers now, and their mantra, “An audience of One,” reflects the way the ministry centers itself on the concept of worship dance. Many young women have been blessed to be a part of the dancing team, says senior Rachel Harvey, reflecting on her years as a dancer and instructor: “There is something different about Acclamation. There is no competition between dancers. There is no pettiness. . . . People are supportive and caring. All that surrounded me was love. It was a place to worship my maker with dance, something I had never dreamed was possible.”
