An artistic space of their own

In the past, studio art students preparing for their final shows often faced a dizzying daily routine of setting up, then later tearing down their projects in Climenhaga Fine Arts Center. To give these senior art students (such as Erin Ruetsch ’04, painting concentration, pictured right) a dedicated space, the College converted the Mill House into a 24-hour studio, dubbed
“The Warehouse.”
“I can’t tell you what a tremendous gift this space is for our department and especially our seniors,” says Christine Forsythe, chair of the Department of Visual Arts. Although The Warehouse has only been open for this purpose since September, students have already voiced their appreciation for the new space. “This facility opens up myriad possibilities for seniors to work together in community,” says Jocelyn Turner '04 from Natick, Mass., double majoring in English and studio art. “The Warehouse enables us to work with greater concentration, dedication, and ownership, while being in a place that fosters peer critique and growth.”
