"Coach Fogelsanger is a great coach because he cares about the individual rather than just the athlete. He teaches us the importance of balance in our lives between academics, athletics, relationships with God and family and friends. Coach taught me that competition is about more than winning — but about doing your best to glorify God. He has taught me that success is competing to the best of your ability, honoring God, and being a good teammate. He really gave me a whole new perspective on athletics that changed everything about the way I compete, and even the way I view success in life."

"I've had the privilege of running for Dale Fogelsanger for almost four years, competing in both track and cross country. His tangible enthusiasm for the sports and interest in his student athletes initially drew me to Messiah. He remains my favorite coach, largely due to his infectious encouragement and constructive criticism, regardless of a particular race's outcome. Most importantly, though, he has helped me cultivate a workable, healthy balance between demanding athletics and my social/academic lives. He understands and even affirms the fact that I am a student, friend, and son first and an athlete second. Ever an optimist, he is the first to congratulate me for a good performance and the quickest to console after a sub-par race or a hard week of running."

"Coach Luley emphasizes academics and excelling in the classroom first, which has helped me set my priorities. She's a great listener and always has her door open to anyone who needs to talk, so it's like having a mom right there on campus. She has given me a sense of accountability and team spirit; I have learned to work hard for not only myself but also for the good of my team."

"I have more respect for Coach Brandt than any man I've ever known. He has shown me what high standards are all about in every aspect of soccer, but even more in every aspect of life. He has taught me about doing the right thing for its own sake, and about what I have heard aptly described as the 'dogged pursuit of excellence' in all of life. One rarely hears this many superlatives used about an individual, but that is the amazing thing about Coach Brandt — the consistency with which he applies these principles."
