Kevin Williams

Assistant Director to Residence Life - Special Interest Housing

Kevin joined the Messiah College family in August of 2012

Born in Cleveland, OH           Hometown Oakwood Village

Brief Career History:  I received a BA from Malone College in Youth Ministry and a Master's in Higher Education Administration at the University of Akron. Prior to coming to Messiah I worked as an Abstinence Education Presenter for a year where I spoke in junior high and high schools about the benefits of an abstinent life prior to marriage. I also served as a Youth Director at True Light Christian Ministries where I planned youth events and spoke on several Sunday morning services. and I also worked as an Admissions Counselor, Coordinator of Multicultural Recruitment and Athletic Liaison at Malone University. For three years I served as the house leader for the Men's Discipleship House where young men could move off campus and learn through doing shared meals, accountability, bible study and a service project

What are you passionate about? Serving others, mentoring, running, and purity.

Who has influenced you most? In my life my Mom has had the most influence on me second only to God. My Mom is the one who believed in me when no one else knew what God had placed on and in my life. She helped me to be myself and not listen to the haters. She introduced me to Christ and helped me to see my need for a Savior.

What was the strangest thing you have ever done? Cutting my son and daughters umbilical cords when they were born. There I was after watching the birthing process. The doctor looks up at me after saying “it’s a” – “would you like to cut the umbilical cord”. Many thoughts rushed through my mind. Yes, it would be an honor. No, this might hurt. Wait,  I am cutting what was the life source for this child for many months now it is our responsibility to provide a new source of life for this child. Overwhelming and strange all at once.

What is the last book you read? The Mentor Leader by Tony Dungy

What is your greatest concern? I am most concerned about how my decisions and choices effect the lives of those around me.

Favorite drink at Starbucks? My favorite  is a toss up between White Mocha and a Caramel Macchiato.

What was your favorite course in college? It is hard for me to pick one course among my favorites are: Communication Skills, Creative Bible Teaching, and Faith in the World Seminar.

World leader or someone you look up too? I look up to my previous Pastor, Gary Martin. He was an excellent teacher and preacher of God’s word. He could bring the word in a way that anyone young or old could connect to it. His understanding of how the old and new testament connect is astounding. He is also a great Father to his children and a husband of one wife. He has been a tremendous example to me and I look up to him.
