Men's Adventure Retreat
The Loft sponsors Men's Adventure Retreats to help men at Messiah develop significant relationships with other men and grow in their faith, leadership, character, and calling through adventure activities and small group discussion.
Fall 2012 - Stay the Course... being Men of Courage & Conviction
Just over a year ago, on Sept. 25th, 2011, a 17-year-old Christian named Guled Jama Muktar was beheaded in Somalia for being a Christian by al-Shabab extremists. On that day, this young man joined a great assembly of Christians that have been persecuted or martyred for their convictions. These people had the courage to “stay the course” even in the midst of it costing them their lives. We may never have to face the decision of whether or not to die for our faith, but every day we face the decision of whether or not we will live for it.
What convictions do you hold most strongly to in your life?
What are the biggest challenges to your convictions?
Where do you need more courage to live out your convictions?
We will be looking at these topics of courage and conviction at the 2012 Men's Adventure Retreat during the weekend of Friday, Oct. 26th - Sunday, Oct. 28th. This adventure retreat is hosted by the LOFT and is open to all male Messiah students. The weekend will include a bunch of men camping in the woods, lots of food, orienteering challenges, and good conversation around a campfire. We will be digging deeper into God’s word to look at stories of men that had strong convictions and the courage to stay the course through challenges and difficulties with the hope that we too can stay the course as men of God.
What better way can you spend a fall weekend than to be with a bunch of Messiah men in the woods?
