Family Weekend 2008
WELCOME FAMILIES!
We are excited to invite you to Family Weekend 2008, September 26–28, and look forward to welcoming you to campus. We have planned a weekend full of fun activities for you and your family to enjoy together. Some of the highlights of the weekend are:
- Midnight Rollerskating
- Canoeing on the Yellow Breeches
- Family Fun Fair
- SAB Coffeehouse
In addition, we have planned several educational seminars to give your family an opportunity to learn together from our talented educators. Finally, you can see our men’s soccer team take on Bethany under the lights at Shoemaker Field. We encourage you to make the most of the weekend by participating in the activities that have been planned especially for you.
While we do hope you take advantage of the many activities we’ve planned for you, we understand that your son or daughter may be ready to get off-campus for a change. There are many fine area restaurants and fun local attractions, including those in Gettysburg and Lancaster. If you want to consider those off-campus options, be sure to check out our Visitors Guide at www.messiah.edu/visitors

Please help us plan space, food, and beverages for Family Weekend by completing the online registration form. Registration is not required, but we do like to know who is coming, and it does help us in our planning. Those who do not register online can register at the Welcome Table upon arrival at Family Weekend.
This family weekend favorite involves paddling three miles down the beautiful Yellow Breeches starting at the covered bridge on Messiah's campus. No previous experience is necessary for this guided excursion and all paddling equipment is provided. To reserve spots on the canoeing trips, you must purchase tickets by calling the ticket office (717-691-6036). Tickets are $10 per boat and will go on sale on August 25 at 8:00 am. Boats can either hold 2-3 adults, or 2 adults and up to 2 children.
The schedule of events included here is a tentative schedule. Some events, locations, and times may change. Updated information and schedules will be available at the Welcome Table at the Larsen Student Union from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Friday and 9:00 am - 2:00 pm on Saturday. Also, anyone who does not preregister can register at the Welcome Tent. If you arrive after 2:00pm on Saturday, you can register at the Information Desk on the second floor of the Larsen Student Union.
