The Logobou Province

by Joy Curtis

Located in the southeast corner of Burkina Faso, the Logobu Province is the region that governs towns such as Mahadaga and Logobou. These towns are made up of primarily Gourma crop farmers and Fulani herdspeople. The Logobou town itself is located about 15K from Mahadaga, following the single road that runs through both places. The fields spanning this distance are completely full of cotton, leaving the borders between the towns unmarkable. Though it is smaller in population and square kilometers than Mahadaga, Logobou was chosen for the province seat. It now houses any government positions for the area, such as the local extension agent for agriculture and the Environmental agent. This has unfortunately caused tension between the two towns. SIM has been working in the Logobou Province since 1930, operating the Mahadaga clinic, Gourma and Fulani evangelism, and the Handicapes en Avant Center.
