SUV System

by Heather Nicholson

Water for the World is in the process of developing a water filtration system which will be powered when plugged into the cigarette lighter adapter of any SUV, RV, or car. Its goal is to provide an easy, accessible method of water filtration for campers and hikers. The system has four components: a pump, dual gradient particle filter, carbon block filter, and UV light. The inside layer of the particle filter contains smaller pores than the outside layer.

Both the pump and UV light require electricity, so an intricate circuit connects them and hooks the system into the car by means of a cigarette lighter adapter. A long cable attaches the filtration system to this adapter, providing a flexible distance from the vehicle at which campers can filter their water. The SUV system will be neatly packaged in a plastic case with foam compartments protecting each component. WFTW has been surveying groups of people at area malls to determine what audience to target in marketing this system.
