As the narrator himself so succinctly states at the beginning of the film, (500) Days of Summer "is not a love story. It is a story about love." When Tom falls in love with Summer, an independent, single woman with no need for the commitment of a relationship, things clearly are not going to end well, even though their romance is beautiful for some time. This quirky romantic comedy is the classic case of boy-meets-girl, except without the happy ending. |
