Philip Yancey to address graduating class
With 16 books and 600 published articles under his belt, Philip
Yancey is one of America’s most beloved and prolific Christian
authors. Well-known for penning best-sellers such as Where Is God
When It Hurts, What’s So Amazing About Grace, and The Jesus I Never
Knew, Yancey cites his own desire to investigate and explore aspects
of faith, church, and the Bible as motivation for his books. Yancey’s
motivation to further explore elements of faith has resonated with
readers —he has sold more than five million books, won numerous
awards, and received the praise of evangelical leaders like Billy
Graham who remarked, “There is no writer in the evangelical world
that I admire and appreciate more.”
In addition to authoring books, Yancey has freelanced for 80
publications, including Reader’s Digest, Saturday Evening Post, and
Christian Century. He writes articles and a monthly column for Christianity Today, where he
also serves as editor-at-large. In addition, he is co-chair of the editorial board for Books and
Culture, a recent publication of Christianity Today.
Commencement will be held on May 19 at 10 a.m. on Shoemaker Field of Starry
Athletic Complex. The latest schedule of events for Commencement can be found at www.messiah.edu/commencement. |
