School of Health and Natural Sciences
Department of Biological Sciences
Study the urban environment by urban gardening, taking the MCPC course Urban-Eco Footprints (a study of urban ecology), and experiencing seasons in the city. Temple University offers diverse classes that can meet major requirements or serve as electives when they are more specific to your interests. Students also get involved in research projects with Temple faculty and gain practical experience through internships. A MCPC student recently interned at The Academy of Natural Sciences. Philadelphia is full of biology-related museums and cultural events that make what you study true to real life.
Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry
Diversify your education by experiencing Chemistry and Biochemistry at a major Research One university. Temple University offers several courses that meet Messiah major requirements and elective credit. Start your career networking by studying with people already working in your field.
Department of Health and Human Performance
Internship opportunities abound for students in these majors. Some potential internship organizations to consider are the Phillies, the various health systems and hospitals in Philadelphia and various youth organizations with organized sports. Temple University offers several courses in the major. Check out courses in the Kinesiology Department.
Department of Nutrition and Dietetics
Nutrition and Dietetics students find practical ways to demonstrate and practice their study in Philadelphia. There are several health systems and hospitals where students can do an internship or Urban Field Experience.
Department of Nursing
It is challenging for Nursing majors to spend a semester at MCPC. Students are able to study off-campus fall of sophomore year if Microbiology can be taken. Currently, Temple University only offers Microbiology at Main Campus in spring semesters. Students may take Microbiology in the fall at Temple's Ambler Campus, located about 45 minutes away from MCPC.
