How to Get the Big Picture
Life at the Messiah College-Philadelphia Campus Mission Statement To utilize (North-Central) Philadelphia as a text and context for educating men and women toward maturity of intellect, character, and Christian faith in preparation for lives of urban-oriented service, leadership, and reconciliation in church and society. Profile of the Messiah College-Philadelphia Campus The Messiah College Philadephia Campus is a Christian living-learning community of scholar learners involving students, faculty and staff together in an urban learning comunity. Life at the campus provides the opportutnity for students and faculty to get to know one another in a variety of settings: study, worship, recreation, community service, informal conversation, meals, urban ministry, etc. Beyond the campus itself, students are empowered to take advantage of the rich cultural opportunities available in the city, to pursue a broad curricular program, and to become informed about and involved with urban problems and creative solutions. At the Messiah College-Philadelphia Campus, Chrsitian faith provides a framework for this development. Such development is integrally linked to the community in which it occurs. At the Messiah College-Philadelphia Campus, residence in the learning community is required so that growth may occur most holistically. The process of learning to live and cooperate with one another in community is as essential a component of the Messiah College-Philadelphia Campus experience as the classroom. While the uniqueness of this campus presupposes certain changes in procedure from the Grantham Campus, the Community Covenant standards of the the College Catalog and Messiah College Student Handbook continue to be in effect for all staff and students at the Messiah College-Philadelphia Campus. The Messiah College-Philadelphia Campus Handbook supplements, but does not replace these publications.
