Conferences and Events
The Sider Institute annually hosts two important events: the Brethren in Christ study conference in the fall, and the Schrag Lecture in the spring.
The Brethren in Christ study conference is held each fall chiefly to benefit pastors and laypeople in the Brethren in Christ Church, and individuals from theologically related denominations. The study conference is also a way to encourage research and scholarship on some aspect of the Brethren in Christ tradition. Major papers from this conference are published in Brethren in Christ History and Life, a juried journal focused on Brethren in Christ history and culture.
The Schrag Lecture series is named in honor of Martin and Dorothy Schrag, professors emeritus of church history and music, respectively, at Messiah College. Designed especially to benefit the Messiah College community but also open to the public, the Schrag Lecture typically focuses on Anabaptist history, theology, or ethics.
