Minding the Church: Scholarship in the Anabaptist Tradition Essays in Honor of E. Morris Sider Edited by David Weaver-Zercher Scholarship, church, and Anabaptist tradition: such words embody the deeply-held concerns of E. Morris Sider, who for over four decades has served church and world through his scholarly endeavors. In honor of Dr. Sider's contributions, Messiah College commissioned a festschrift. Entitled Minding the Church: Scholarship in the Anabaptist Tradition, this essay collection provides a forum for Anabaptist scholars in a variety of academic disciplines to address the question, "What does it mean to be both a scholar and a Christian in the Anabaptist tradition?" Autobiographical in nature, the essays in Minding the Church mirror the writing of Morris Sider: readable, engaging and thought-provoking. Writers include Messiah College faculty membersTerry Brensinger, Jay McDermond and Caleb Milleras well as other well-regarded Anabaptist scholars: Sue Biesecker-Mast (Bluffton College), Polly Ann Brown (University of Pennsylvania), Perry Bush (Bluffton College), Mark Charlton (Trinity Western University), Al Dueck (Fuller Theological Seminary), Mary Schertz (Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary), Jeff Gundy (Bluffton College), Lydia Neufeld Harder (University of Toronto), James Harder (Bethel College), David Mosley (Goshen College), and Donald Kraybill (Elizabethtown College). Minding the Church provides a fitting and lasting tribute E. Morris Sider. More than that, it adds an important Anabaptist perspective to an ongoing discussion in Christian higher education. While trained scholars will find the book useful, Minding the Church is suitable reading for all interested in the present life and future health of Christian higher education.
