34 Starry Athletic Field

Starry Athletic Field Complex consists of Anderson Field, the Messiah College Baseball Complex, Shoemaker Field and Starry Field

Anderson Field, an artificial turf field, is made of the newest and best materials in artificial turf. Unlike older types of synthetic turf, injuries and skin burns are virtually non-existent now. It's home to men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, and field hockey. It was recently resurfaced and lighting was installed to allow for evening activities.

Messiah College Baseball Complex is often considered one of the best playing surfaces in the conference - and the region. Recent renovations have enclosed the facility with a chain-link fence. An 8-foot high section runs from the outfield corners complete with a cap guard and windscreen. The foul lines and the sections from the dugouts to the backstop are 4-foot high wind-screen sections. With the fencing, the dimensions for the park are: 330 feet to the left-field line, 375 feet to the left-center power alley, 400 feet to straight-away center, 350 feet to the right-center power alley and 330 feet to the right-field line. A natural ampitheatre seating on the hillside behind the backstop, with the playing surface below, makes for a great view for fans and spectators.

Starry Field is the home of the Messiah College softball team. It features the same infield mix as the infield at the beautiful Orioles' ballpark Camden Yards, along with enclosed brick dugouts, electronic scoreboard, a press box, audio system, outdoor batting cages, and a fully enclosed playing field.

Shoemaker Field is a lighted, irrigated, full-size, top-quality, match-only grass field used by the men's and women's soccer programs. Major improvements have recently been made to the irrigation and drainage system, and the field was resurfaced with sod. Additionally, the facility has bleacher seating for several thousand spectators and significant standing room, along with seating for any of our visitors with disabilities.
