Profile

Dr. Ness-Myers joined the biology department in the fall of 2017 and teaches Human Anatomy & Physiology. Her primary research interests include the biology of oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells, the myelinating cells of the central and peripheral nervous system.

Dr. Ness-Myers completed her B. A. in biology at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine at Pennsylvania State University. Following her post-doctoral fellowship, Dr. Ness-Myers was the Pre-Health Sciences Program Coordinator at Lees-McRae College in NC and taught a number of courses for the major. She then moved to PA with her family and joined the Tapinos Lab at the Geisinger Clinic in Danville. Her research at Geisinger focused on the molecular mechanisms of glial cell development and injury response, and most recently published papers in Glia, Nature Communications, and Spine. Dr. Ness-Myers is looking forward to continuing these studies at Messiah.
