Profile
A native of New Jersey, Soprano Jenice Riebe had her first professional engagement at the age of twelve with a six-month run in the title role of Annie at Neil’s New Yorker Dinner Theater, and since has performed in many musicals, improvisation troupes, operas, and concert performances in Germany, Alaska, and throughout the Eastern United States. Among Ms. Riebe’s accomplishments are participating as finalist in the Mid-Atlantic regional NATSAA competition, winning first place in the State of Virginia. Some of her favorite opera and stage roles include Monica in Menotti’s The Medium, and Luisa in the musical The Fantasticks. Ms. Riebe also enjoys artistic collaboration in the chamber music venue and has toured numerous recitals. Ms. Riebe holds vocal performance degrees from the University of Minnesota and Oberlin Conservatory, where she studied vocal pedagogy with the acclaimed Richard Miller.
A dedicated and respected teacher, Ms. Riebe has enjoyed over twenty years of teaching voice at the collegiate level. Currently Ms. Riebe holds voice faculty positions at Millersville University and Messiah University. She instructs in a variety of styles including classical, jazz, and contemporary commercial music. An active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, she has previously served on the voice faculty at Great Lakes Christian College and Radford University and was privileged to teach some of Virginia’s finest young promising singers at the Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. Throughout the years, many of her students have become successful music educators and performers.
Ms. Riebe lives in Mechanicsburg, PA with her husband and two teenagers. She attends Daybreak Church and serves as a keyboardist and singer-worship leader on the contemporary worship team. When not in the vocal studio, Ms. Riebe can most likely be found in the kitchen or on a family adventure.
